About Us

The Charles City Elks Lodge on Clark Street has been doing something right for a long time. Rated 4.7 out of 5 stars by locals who keep coming back, this is the kind of place where the bartender knows how to handle a full house solo and still makes every guest feel taken care of. That reputation is earned, not marketed.

From Halloween monster bashes co-hosted with the Charles City Art Center to class reunions that fill the hall with decades of old friends, the Lodge opens its doors for the moments that matter. The crowd is reliably friendly, the drinks are honestly priced, and the bar staff consistently earns praise from first-timers and longtime members alike.

Membership in the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks connects you to something bigger than a bar tab. The Elks are one of America's oldest fraternal organizations, built on the values of charity, justice, brotherly love, and fidelity. Here in Charles City, Iowa, those aren't just words on a plaque.

What We Offer

The Lodge serves as a flexible venue for the full range of community life. Private events like class reunions, holiday parties, and organizational meetings fill the calendar alongside Lodge-sponsored nights that draw a cross-section of the town. The bar is a centerpiece, stocked for a good time at prices that don't punish you for staying a second round.

Beyond the social calendar, Elks membership unlocks access to charitable programs, scholarship opportunities for local students, and a national network of Lodges across the country. Whether you're a lifelong Elk or someone who just attended a Halloween party and realized this place has something worth returning to, the path to membership starts with a conversation with any current member.

"Attended a class reunion there. Bar tender was great, handled by herself. Food for dinner not so good. Potatoes were great, salad very plain, roll very hard, smoked pork very dry, bad taste. Cake was OK. Love this location, just thought could get better food for $20 per person."

The Elks gave America
Flag Day.

Long before it was a national observance, the Order set aside June 14th to honor the flag. Patriotism has always been one of our cardinal principles, and every lodge meeting still closes the same way it has for over a century.
